This weekend, Austin and I teamed up with an amazing organization called "Pound the Pavement for Parenthood" who will be sponsoring a 5K race in our behalf this May (tentatively the 14th) in Saratoga Springs, just south of Salt Lake City.
On Saturday, Austin and I had lunch with the organizers of Pound the Pavement for Parenthood and went over the logistics for the 5K race. We are excited to announce this additional opportunity to raise funds so we may realize our dream of having children. As Austin and I have come to realize, having children in a petri dish (lol) isn't going to be cheap. Keep coming back for more details on our 5K run/walk and other events. Let us know if you would like to be involved.

Question. Have you thought of adoption? I realize that may people fully believe in the need to have children that are 100% their own, but adoption is also a very admirable choice. You can take a child that is potentially doomed to early death or a life of longing and no love into your family and still create that family bond. Now, if I were in your position I cannot say I would not be doing the same thing, I just simply wonder why you chose invetro over adoption.
Amanda, I would love to help, however I can! Even if its just running in the race. If its not on the same weekend as a tri (anywhere in utah) I may be able to get my boys from work to volunteer at the race, or run it...whichever is more helpful. Just let me know!
Aleesa, thanks for your support! It would be a great experience to have you and your boys volunteer at the race if it isn't the same weekend as a tri. We will let you know more specifics about the race as they develop. Thanks for your comments.
Sorry Erica. I posted the last comment without adding a final thought. Here is the full version again with the added sentence.
You bring up a great question Erica. I hope we can address this question in a clear and concise way.
As you noted, adoption is a great way for infertile couples to become parents. However, this road is very long and also very expensive.
There is a lot to be said about conceiving a child with daddy or mommy's eyes, nose, etc. Infertile couples must first come to terms with the fact that the door to having their own child is closed before they can open another door; in other words, the door to adoption.
At this point in time, our fertility doctor has informed us that we have a great chance of conceiving our own biological child. This is why we are going for the petri dish baby first. lol.
Hope this helps! Please feel free to ask more questions as they arise. You can also check out the national infertility association's website for more information on this question: www.resolve.org
It was such a pleasure meeting you two this last weekend. We're excited to be sponsoring you this year and I know it will be an unforgettable experience for you, and your friends and family. POUND THE PAVEMENT FOR PARENTHOOD!
I am so excited for the run this year and I am happy to have met you both! :)
Hi Amanda I found your blog through Lisa's of course!! I would love more info on the race. You are amazing and I just would love to help whatever I can do. I have just starting running and would be interesting in doing the 5k. I have been thinking about you a lot and want the best for you and your husband.
